Illinois added 8,200 private sector jobs in July. That’s according to a report by human resources management firm ADP.
The report says Illinois added 8,800 service sector jobs in July. The total number was pulled down by a loss of 600 jobs in areas such as manufacturing, mining and construction.
The 8,200 jobs added in July continues an upward trend for the state, rising from 7,200 jobs added in June and 6,300 in May. That parallels a similar rise in job growth across the Midwest. ADP says the Midwest as a whole added 40,000 jobs in July, vs. 32,000 in June.
The ADP report, produced in collaboration with Moody’s Analytics, looks at changes in nonfarm private sector payrolls on a seasonally adjusted basis.
