$1.6 billion worth of transportation projects got the go-ahead today when Governor Pat Quinn signed a major capital improvements bill.

It’s the latest phase of the Illinois Jobs Now! program.  House Bill 4568 approved the issuance of 1.6 billion in bonds to support road and bridge repairs, high speed rail, and other transit projects.  The governor’s office says this phase of the six-year program will create 20,000 jobs.

A list of projects by county is available at the Illinois Department of Transportation’s website: http://www.dot.state.il.us/press/IJN%20ALL%20MODES.pdf
