RI County Dems Host Pres. Candidates
Four Democratic candidates for president campaigned in the Quad Cities Monday. They attended the annual Labor Day picnic in East Moline, hosted by the Rock Island County Democratic Party.
Tulsi Gabbard, Marianne Williamson, Michael Bennett, and Amy Klobuchar all stressed their support for unions, health care, and why the economy needs to be fixed.
But Williamson stressed the election will be about more than just voting right on these Democratic issues.
"We have to do more than figure out how we have to fight for health care and fight for paid overtime and fight for pensions and fight for rights. We have to ask ourselves as Americans what the hell is going in America that it should be such a fight every day."
Bennett and Klobuchar say they're the right choice to be the Democratic nominee for president because they've won election in purple and red states, while Gabbard told the crowd not to be complaisant, and that their hard-fought rights are under attack - for decent wages, collective bargaining, and for the right to strike.
