Barmore Plaintiffs Ask for $4 Million in Compensation

City of Rockford

Plaintiffs in the Rockford civil trial regarding the 2009 shooting of Mark Anthony Barmore asked the jury yesterday for $4 million.

The suit alleges that officers recklessly inflicted emotional distress when pursuing and shooting Barmore in a church day care center.  Lawyers for the Brown family, which owns the center, also say police failed to adequately protect children and center staff.

After hearing four hours of testimony yesterday, the jury adjourned for the night andwill reconvene this morning at 8 with the hope of reaching a final verdict.
