The DeKalb Citizens’ Environmental Commission (CEC) will give another talk on the best backyard trees to plant in northern Illinois as a valuable follow-up to last year’s Stem Cafe/CEC presentation, Climate Change in Our Backyards. Tree planting plays a major role in offsetting excess carbon emissions associated with climate change, and selecting the right variety will not only help modulate the weather patterns but will also benefit numerous native species.

What Tree Should I Plant in my Backyard? will be presented from 7-8:30 on Thursday, February 23, at the DeKalb Public Library, 309 Oak St., Yusunas Meeting Room. Sweets and beverages will be offered. For more information on the CEC, go to bit.ly/DklbCEC.
