Fall 2024 NIU Percussion Ensemble Concert
Fall 2024 NIU Percussion Ensemble Concert to Feature Collaboration with NIU Dance
The NIU Percussion Ensemble presents its annual fall concert on Sunday, November 10, 2024 with a program featuring percussion works by Augusta Read Thomas, Thomas Gauger, Andy Harnsberger, and Gregory Beyer. Thomas, whose work is internationally known and celebrated, will be in attendance at the concert and will offer a few short words about her piece prior to its performance.
After a brief intermission, the Percussion Ensemble will switch gears to perform a suite of Afro-Cuban folkloric music. They will be joined by nine students from NIU’s first ever iteration of the School of Theatre and Dance’s Afro-Cuban Dance class, taught by NIU faculty member Michel-Rodriguez Cintra, award-winning Cuban born dancer, actor, circus performer and educator. This is an exciting interdisciplinary collaboration between Schools within the College of Visual and Performing Arts and is evidence of the powerful capacity for collaboration in the arts.
The concert begins at 3PM and tickets are available through the NIU CVPA Digital Box Office.
We encourage the NIU and the DeKalb community at large to join us for this special concert!
For in-person tickets, please visit the NIU CVPA Digital Box Office.
