Faculty affiliated with NIU’s Center for Southeast Asian Studies will explore topics on the Second Indochina War, popularly known as the Vietnam War. Experts in global history, Southeast Asian studies, foreign policy and the American experience will share their insights on this intriguing topic through lenses such as the Cold War, the war at home, escalation and the Vietnam War in film. Convener: Eric Jones, an associate professor in the Department of History and acting director of NIU’s Center for Southeast Asian Studies, will coordinate a series of speakers for this class. The Northern Illinois University Lifelong Learning Institute (LLI), established in 2000, is a member-directed group of individuals primarily age 50 plus who enjoy learning in informal, flexible, non-competitive groups and like connecting with peers who share their interests.
