WNIJ is issuing a call to authors for our first-ever Winter Book Series. We're looking for writers from northern Illinois and southern Wisconsin who've recently published novels, short story collections, poetry collections, memoirs, and academic works that could interest a general audience. We expect many of these books will be published by independent presses or university presses, but we will consider self-published works that have been professionally edited. Submissions will be accepted through October 5.
Molly McNett doesn't write exclusively about the Midwest, but rural Illinois is a big part of her identity and her writing. "I'm not going to write about hipsters in Brooklyn," she says, "because I just don't know a lot about that."
