The northern Illinois city has decided to take legal action in response to the Rita Crundwell case. The lawsuit says the accounting firms the city was using should have noticed that millions of dollars had gone missing.
Former Dixon comptroller Rita Crundwell pleaded “not guilty” in federal court in Rockford Monday. She’s accused of stealing 53-million dollars from her hometown over the past 20 years.
Rita Crundwell is scheduled to make an appearance for her arraignment on wire fraud charges.
