Crundwell Liquidation Nearly Complete

The U.S. Marshals Service has liquidated nearly all of the assets of Rita Crundwell, the former Dixon comptroller who admitted embezzling vast sums from the city. One of the final sales will be her personal jewelry collection. The jewelry sale, scheduled Feb. 23 in Texas, will be simulcast to reach a wider audience.

When all is said and done, the city of Dixon will only recoup a fraction of the $53 million taken from the city's coffers over the last two decades.

Rockford vet seeks payment from Crundwell assets

Rockford-based Strathman Veterinary Services Inc. says Dixon Comptroller Rita Crundwell owes more than $52,000 for services to 67 of her horses, according to documents filed in federal court this week.

The company’s attorney filed a motion to intervene in a federal lawsuit filed in early May to recoup those losses when U.S. Marshals sell those and 334 other horses that belong to Crundwell.
