U.S. Rep. Rodney Davis Wants Congress To Pass A Bill Protecting DREAM-ers

www.congress.gov

The congressman for east-central Illinois supports President Trump’s announcement to end to the DACA program, because it forces Congress to take a stand.

Davis claims former President Obama said in 2012 that DACA, a program that helps children of illegal immigrants stay in the United States, was never meant to be permanent.

“It was just simply a change authored by the (Obama) administration and given to the Department of Homeland Security saying, ‘just use this rule,’” he said.

Davis said he supports President Trump’s actions, because now Congress can work together and develop bi-partisan legislation to come up with immigration legislation.

The Taylorville Republican said he supports stronger border protections and enforcement measures. Davis also says he supports DACA recipients because the United States is the only country they’ve ever known.
