Representative Bustos Is Considering A Run For Governor

U.S. Congress

U.S. Representative Cheri Bustos is one of a handful of Democrats considering a run for Illinois governor. She says although she was just sworn in for her third term in Congress, she'd give it up to run for governor – if she's the person most likely to beat incumbent Republican Bruce Rauner.

She says legislatively, Rauner is the worst governor in her lifetime: "He has tied passing a budget -- which is the one job for the governor of Illinois --he's tied that to his ideological stances and the result has been devastating for our state."

Bustos says time will sort out whether she is the best candidate for Democrats in the governor's race. There's still more than a year before Rauner is officially up for re-election.
