Kendall Thu

Kendall Thu is a Presidential Engagement Professor and Chair of the Department of Anthropology at Northern Illinois University.

He has been the editor of Culture and Agriculture, served on the Boards of the National Association of Practicing Anthropologists and the Central States Anthropological Society, is a Fellow in the Society for Applied Anthropology, and served as President of Culture and Agriculture. He also served a two-year term on the National Agricultural Air Quality Task Force under U.S. Secretary of Agriculture Dan Glickman.

His research examines linkages between food systems, the environment, political power, policy, and public/occupational health. In recent years, he has focused on the Clean Water Act, water quality, and agriculture.

In addition, he is the co-founder of the Illinois Citizens for Clean Air and Water and the Illinois Food Farm and Consumer Coalition.
