Three McHenry County police officers and a Sheriff's deputy were honored last week by the County’s Chiefs of Police Association.
Gilbert Hueramo, Victoria Gwizdak, Lisa Knebl and Eric Luna received Officers of the Year awards for helping in saving the lives of two sheriff's deputies in October after both were allegedly shot by Scott Peters.
The two deputies shot were responding to a domestic call in Holiday Hils when Peters allegedly shot them and ran. The Northwest Herald reports it was the first time a deputy was shot in McHenry County since the 1980s.
