An Indiana auto parts maker is planning to consolidate its North American manufacturing operations in Rockford by early 2013.
210 workers will be phased out of Gunite Corp.'s Elkhart, Indiana facility beginning in late September. The factory makes wheel systems and components for heavy-duty and medium-duty trucks.
The company is also phasing out its machining operations in Brillion, Wisconsin.
Gunite is owned by Evansville, Indiana-based Accuride Corp. Accuride CEO Rick Dauch says consolidating the operations into a single site will improve efficiency, reduce operating costs and make the business more profitable.
