Republicans lose Hastert's seat

DeKalb, IL – Jim Oberweis failed to keep Dennis Hastert's Congressional seat in Republican hands. During a special election on March 8th, Oberweis lost to Democrat Bill Foster. Foster will fill the rest of Hastert's term. WNIJ's Dan Klefstad talks with NIU political scientist Matt Streb about this symbolic victory for the Democratic party.

Foster wins Congressional seat

St. Charles, IL and Aurora, IL – Democrat Bill Foster beat Republican Jim Oberweis in Saturday's special election in the 14th Congressional District. That means he'll head to Washington, D.C. to finish former Congressman Dennis Hastert's unexpired term.
