DeKalb, IL – One student is in custody and another injured following a shooting on the campus of Northern Illinois University. The incident happened early this morning outside a residence hall. University President John Peters says this appears to be an isolated incident.
The victim was shot in the leg. His injuries are described as non-life- threatening. The suspect was apprehended moments after the shooting and remains in police custody. Authorities have yet to announce a motive in the case.

A magnitude 3.8 quake shook northern Illinois awake around 4 this morning. The epicenter of the smallish quake was near Gilberts, in northern Kane County.
