Toni Keller update

DeKalb, IL – DeKalb County authorities have announced that badly burned human remains, found in a DeKalb park, are that of Northern Illinois University student, Toni Keller. The remains were discovered shortly after Keller was reported missing last fall. 34-year-old, William Curl of DeKalb, has since been charged with murder in connection with Keller's death. He remains jailed on five-million dollars bond. Curl has yet to enter a plea in the case. His defense attorney says she wants results from a psychological exam, before entering a plea.

Deferred prosecution program

WNIJ news – Programs that offer deferred prosecution are nothing new. But, they seem to gaining in popularity in northern Illinois. To combat a high jail population, the Winnebago County State's Attorney is considering a rehabilitation program. It would give first-time, non-violent offenders, an alternative to incarceration.
